[Recommendations for healthy birth and growth: the ten steps revised].

Um grupo técnico para a redução da mortalidade fetal tardia e infantil (GT-RMI) foi instituído pela Portaria no. 987/07 1, pelo Secretário Municipal de Saúde de Porto Alegre, em dezembro de 2007. Este GT-RMI elaborou uma minuta de Projeto de Lei que tramita desde maio de 2008 na Câmara de Vereadores da capital gaúcha. A minuta solicita a instituição de um comitê municipal de prevenção da mortalidade infantil. Sendo o objetivo do GT-RMI discutir sobre a evitabilidade da mortalidade infantil e fetal tardia, os integrantes deste grupo têm analisado ações estratégicas que possam colaborar para a redução do óbito de crianças. Os óbitos podem ser evitados por: • Imunoprevenção; • Educação sexual e reprodutiva; • Atenção ao parto e ao puerpério; • Educação para evitar exposição a agentes causadores de defeitos congênitos, como é o caso do álcool, drogas, trabalho insalubre dentre outros. A prevenção primária depende da compreensão e do conhecimento. Fortalecer a educação para a saúde é uma dessas estratégias para se reduzir o número de crianças de risco de morbidade e mortalidade infantil, por isso uma das propostas foi a elaboração de um decálogo de recomendações que estão expostas na Tabela 1. Tais recomendações serão disponibilizadas universalmente para a população e apresentam o potencial de serem um dos recursos de informação e educação para a saúde.
